First Days Together

Once again, I will try to post a little more.  Honestly, I don't want to forget any of these first moments for Eden and our family together and very special impressions that have been made.  There again, I am not entirely and completely focused on what I am doing.  I am distracted easily, especially if Eden comes in the house calling, "Mommy!!"  which I am eager and glad to respond to quickly!!  By the way, this happens often.  The first day Eden hardly would let me out of her sight at all and quickly call out, "Mommy!!"   Now I have a few moments to possibly start this post, since Eden has been very happily playing outside with her siblings and her daddy.

Rewind to our very first day together.  Despite the late night, Bella could hardly wait for her new sister to wake up!!  I actually had to keep her from waking her.  Eden rarely sat except to eat, which by the way she does almost constantly now (eats, that is).  She was so eager to take in all her new surroundings, jumping from one thing to the next.  Bella was wanting her to sit by the wood stove the first morning and she asked Eden nicely to come sit by the fire, but we had to explain to Bella that she doesn't understand what she is asking.  Bella was quite confused, I think, that her new sister couldn't just talk to her normally and play with her normally.  In fact, each thing they played with lasted only a little while until Eden was off to see something new!!  Eden was so excited when we showed her the dresser full of clothes for her and her shoes.  She looked at me and said, "Me?!!!" pointing to herself!!  Eden was not too eager for her bath and especially to have her hair washed, but was quite a brave girl about it all, especially when Mom pulled out the hair bag, then Eden was really not sure what was up!!  She was anxious about me combing out her hair and so I just did a quick but thorough job of combing her hair out and pulling it into pigtails.  Then I took her to the mirror and she looked and smiled saying, "Yes!"

I was very grateful that Cade was able to spend the morning with us.  Eden was quite hesitant getting too close to Cade.  After our lunch, we ventured to the Seiad School for the girls' Halloween party.  I was unsure of how Eden would do and there really was no way to explain the costumes except she understood, "party."  I was completely amazed to see how excited and comfortable she seemed to be with her sisters, preferring neither one over the other, but just anxious to go between the two of them, making sure Mom was still close by.  We stayed longer than I expected, but Eden was happy and having a great time.

Bella and Eden wore their matching pumpkin shirts.

Eden thought  this mummy game was hilarious!!

                                                                  "Look, Mommy!"

                                                        Watching Treva get wrapped.

They played this game where you have to use your mouth to get the "body parts out of the "intestines."   Who knows what Eden was thinking.

She thought it was pretty funny to watch, though!

After getting back home, the girls were anxious to show her around more of the farm.  The morning had been cold and so it finally warmed up enough for her to be comfortable outside.  I loved watching the girls together.  Bella didn't get a nap so she was becoming more crabby and getting upset more easily, but I was outside with the girls and they were much happier to just be playing outside.  Cyrus had a football game, so the evening was just my girls and I.  For supper I pulled out some leftovers, which happened to be chicken teriyaki with rice.  I was heating it up and she went over to the bowl that the food had been in and she drank and licked the bowl clean!!!!  She wasn't too excited about the steamed broccoli, though.  She asked for my plate and then scraped her broccoli off onto my plate!!  Smart girl!  I asked her to eat one, though, and she did!!

After supper I new Eden and Bella were both so tired.  We found their pajamas and they were playing when I took a phone call.  When I was on the phone, I noticed Eden laying on the couch.  I said to her, "Come!"  She pointed to Katreese and told Katreese to come and then she had Katreese carry her to me.  I rocked her and she fell asleep very quickly!!  Sweet girl!!  Afterwards, Bella had her turn of being rocked and then went to sleep!!

(photos thanks to my daughter, Treva!)

I was actually amazed at how beat tired I was after that first day.  The thing is, that Eden is just unpredictable!!  Understandable, though!!  For instance, at supper she had been using her silverware (they don't use silverware in ET) and then she just put them down and started using her hands to eat the rice with.  I just watched her.  Then, before I knew it, she picked up her drinking water cup and started pouring it on her hands to clean her hands, thinking nothing of it of course!!!
