Another Dental Surgery

Tuesday morning I packed up our Excursion and the three little ones and I headed off to Redding to meet my sis-in-law Jeanie (and her baby Jamie!!) for lunch.  Cade left early that morning with his dad to go to an auction in Dunnigan, so I decided to have a bit of a fun day.  It definitely did NOT look anything like spring through Weed / Mt. Shasta area!!  The wind was blowing so hard and then it was snowing instead of raining with slush / ice on the road.  I did not enjoy that part of the trip but I was glad I got through there when I did!!

We had super heavy rain all through the canyon to Redding and the whole day it just poured rain!!  It was crazy!!  After our lunch, Jeanie and I decided to go to the mall where we could be out of the rain!  There was no way I was going to let the rain dampen our spirits!!  The kids enjoyed the play area while Jeanie and I talked (imagine that!)!  I think I am growing soft in my later mothering years!  I hardly ever have taken my kids to play in the play area places.  Part of that is because of going through Kohlie's sickness with germ awareness but most always I am in too much of a rush to stop!  Anyway, we really enjoyed our time with Jeanie and baby Jamie and my little kiddos were such troops.  We had 5:15 before we had to leave Redding.  I suppose it helped that Eden and Bereket napped on our drive to Redding.  However, Bella did not!

Silly kids.  Pict taken in front of JcPennys

I had to add this pict but I was NOT supposed to
take it. Honestly, I was not paying attention
and knew better.  However, it was so funny
because Eden wanted to badly to go shake
the bunny rabbit's hand after seeing other kids
do so. She was intrigued.  Bella and Bereket
were not interested in getting close though!

We stayed the night at our friend's house so we would not have such a big day on Wednesday!  It was really nice to have supper made for us and have relaxing adult conversation while the kids enjoyed playing with new toys!

On Wednesday Eden was checked into Enloe Outpatient for dental surgery again!  The doctor had a VERY general description of what he would be doing since he didn't really know until she was sedated and they took x-rays.  On our last trip to see Dr. Saad's office, he had such a glum outlook on Eden's mouth (Eden was trying to brush herself and was not doing a good enough job and she had the infected eye tooth)that I was mentally bracing myself that she could come out of surgery with all her teeth pulled!!  HA!  Almost!  I was a bit nervous.  Some little girl was pretty anxious as well!  We did not talk with her enough before hand apparently.  I knew that she was anxious because she was very quiet on our drive to Chico.  We told her this time it would not be as bad as last time.  (We didn't really know what was goign to happen, though!)  However, she only had to have the x-rays done, a thorough cleaning, and one tooth extraction (the eye tooth) so we were pretty relieved.  It was also really good to hear Dr. Saad say that whatever we are doing with her teeth and mouth, keep it up!  He said her hygiene was 100 percent turnaround from the last time he took a look!  We were very happy!!

Eden came out of surgery fairly quickly and she woke up pretty quickly.  She asked me if I heard her crying.  I told her "no."  (Before she went in to surgery she asked where we would be.  We told her we were going to be staying very close by, waiting for her to wake up!)  I asked why she was crying and she told me they put the green thing over her mouth (mask).  I asked if it hurt her.  She said, "no."  Then I asked her, "So, you were crying because you didn't like it?"  She answered, "Yes!"  As soon as she was waking up she wanted her IV pulled and everything taken off her.  Then she asked me, "Can I go home with Mom and Dad now?"  She ate a whole thing of yogurt and Popsicle before we left and then once we were in the car she was out again sleeping!!  She could truly rest once she knew she was headed home!!  Another funny thing is that after they gave her the sleepy medicine she was talking and we decided it was kinda like a truth medicine!  She started crying and said to me while I was holding her on my lap, "I just love to eat and I won't be able to eat!!"  I assured her again that it wouldn't be as bad as the last time and that she may be able to eat very quickly all kinds of things!

Eden has not had much pain and had a good night.  Today she is back to her self, besides her throat was really sore this morning and she didn't want to drink!  Thankfully, Daddy said she had to take a drink of water before he went to work to help me out.  She can get a bit dramatic!  I remembered from last time that it was her throat that was sore, so I knew that she just had to find out that the water is not going to hurt going down!

On the way to Eden's surgery!  LOVE this pict of them holding hands!

Eden and Bereket!

Bereket was a busy body playing in this kids area where we waited preop

Eden had smiles but I knew fears were still within!

She tries so hard to be brave!

That tooth on her top right is the one that got extracted!

Mom was busy giving cuddles.

This was after Eden had her "truth medicine."

Momma and her girls!
The interesting part is that Bella was really worried about her sister, too.  So, I not only had Eden to console but Bella too!  I love the way these two care for each other!  It makes my heart skip a beat!!  Bella was worrying about Eden before the surgery and then when they called me back to the recovery room Bella wanted to come with me.  One of the first things Eden asked was, "Where is Daddy?" (last time my mom was with us so we could both be in the recovery room) and "Where is Bella?"  and then "Is Bella crying?"

Another surgery down.  We are keeping our fingers crossed that things are starting to look up for Eden!
