You'll never believe what I heard on the radio today!! Yep, that song! It felt very fitting as well!! I have to say, though, my littles have done very well today, even with a bit of extra excitement in the air as we are getting ready for our church convention. I am especially glad now that we went to Casa Grande convention grounds for preps so that Eden has some thing she can compare convention to because the unknowns are pretty hard for her!
On Saturday I decided on making a vest for Bereket on a whim. I checked my material and used one of Bereket's Sunday vests for a pattern. Today we had to have him try it on with his Sunday shirt. I was a little worried that it was too small but it fits him well.

Now on a hair note, since I have gotten behind on that topic, we have been trying some new things with Eden's hair. Since Dad got home late on Saturday and it was hair wash night for Eden, I decided on NOT to style her hair and give it a bit of a break. This always feels like a double-edged sword. We (Eden and I both) like her hair loose but it has a lot of drawbacks leaving it that way. Her hair tends to dry out more and it gets so many tangles in it since she has SO much hair!! Doing protective styling (braiding , twisting) is the best for Eden's hair because it protects her hair and keeps it moist and is best for hair growth. Since Eden has already informed me that she wants to have hair as long as mine, we have to work on this. (HA!!) However, I decided on giving her a couple days with her hair free before I braid it for convention.

I broke down and bought beads for Eden's hair. It just takes more time, but it keeps her braids hanging nicely, otherwise they curl up and don't stay put very well. These pictures were taken after I re-braided her hair and put beads in for the first time (last week). Eden loves swinging her braids with beads. Do you think she looks happy with her new beads?

because of the way I parted her hair, she had very
uneven lengths. |

similar hair style. |

I liked the way the back looked and I was using hair bobbles
(that's what we call them, anyway) to add weight
to the bottom of her braids but she lost some and
I didn't feel that they were very good for
getting caught in the ends of her hair. |

The "hair game" is quite a thing with Eden's hair and it takes time. There is just NO WAY AROUND IT! Her hair needs extra TLC and we are working on finding what her hair likes best. My favorites for her hair right now is spritzing daily with water and coconut oil mix, washing hair once a week following what we call a prepoo (her scalp and hair covered in coconut oil for a couple of hours), ACV rinse (mix of apple cider vinegar and water), Carol's Daughter moisturizing hair smoothie (apply in the bath let sit for 10 min and then finger detangle while in bath - this softens her hair amazingly and makes it easier to deal with). After her bath while her hair is very wet still, I run Kinky Curly Knot today detangler through her hair with my fingers and then follow with aloe vera gel (which seals in moisture) with my fingers as well. The picture taken of her on Sunday was taken the morning after bath night (and I pulled her hair gently back for the night and then added a bit of Kinky Curly Curling Custard and followed with aloe vera gel as well!) For braiding I am liking Cantu shea butter pomade for styling and keeping fuzzies at bay although there are others I use too. This may be a little too informative for some of you who don't need black hair care but there may be some who are interested!
