Baseball Update and a Tribute

I haven't posted many pictures from the girls' baseball season.  Both of the girls have enjoyed it SO much and I am so glad that they have been able to play and participate.  It always makes my life a little more hectic, but when I see how much they are enjoying themselves (especially Katreese from last year), I am glad.

Last night their teams (Hornets) played probably one of the hardest teams and they won by one point.  Treva made the winning point!!  It was such a cold, rainy evening and the littles were cold and having a hard time keeping warm.  I almost left the game twice because it was miserable and I always am cold!!  Anyway, I was SO glad that I stayed and that a nice lady shared her sleeping bag (yep, it was that cold) with Eden and Bella.  Bereket snuggled with Mama.  The Hornets had a close, fun game and despite the rain, they were really excited!!  Treva hit every time she was up to bat!  She just loves sports and does very well.  Katreese did very well too!  She has great form when up to bat and is still trying to get the "batting thing" figured out but she has come a long way from last year.  (Last year she got hit by the ball a couple of times when up to bat and it really scared her.

My sweet bb girls.
Not too long ago I posted about debate about sports.  I think I may have mentioned this there as well, but out of all of the sports, I love baseball.  It is springtime and usually wonderful weather to get out of the house and watch some games!

The tribute?  Well, yesterday Cade took our dog, Grouser, on his logging job and Grouser got smashed by a log.  Cade is still befuddled about why Grouser jumped out of the truck and ran right under the log loader.  It was definitely happen chance, though, because not always do they lose a log off the load deck and that is exactly what happened and Grouser was right there.  Since Grouser was raised right by Cade with logging equipment running, he has always been a very cautious dog so Cade wondered if maybe there was some thunder and that spooked Grouser, causing him to run from his truck!

Needless to say, our family was very sad and had a lot of talk about Grouser.  He was my hiking partner and I felt safe with him so I had really grown to love this dog  and enjoy his company!  Interestingly enough, on our way to the ball game we were one of the first people on a car accident scene.  We watched as two men were climbing out of their upturned car.  Everyone was okay but it seemed to me that we had some gentle reminders that life is short that day!  When Cyrus learned of Grouser's accident, he said really slowly, "I guess we should just be glad that it wasn't Dad.  Our family understands the seriousness and dangers that lie in Cade's work.

When we were laying in bed last night talking, I said to Cade, "Time and chance happeneth to us all."
