All in one day's work:
Run on the treadmill after getting Cyrus off on the bus at 6:25. Wake Treva and Katreese for the second shift of breakfast. Hard boiled eggs and toast and then hair combing for Katreese and thankfully Cade takes them to school for me! Third shift breakfast. This time the toast is all gone, so Bella and Bereket get hard boiled eggs and oatmeal! They're happy! Quiet time for Mama with her bible and coffee, Daddy gets back home. Get his lunch together and kiss him back out the door and off to work!! The littles are sure to get a kiss from Dad too! Bed making, teeth brushing, and getting the littles dressed for the day! Diaper changing and then a stinky one!! Get bread started in the bosch, start Treva and Katreese's sheets in the laundry. Very quick shower for me and my turn to get dressed for the day. Put first batch of bread in the oven, get fingerpaints out for the girls after they finish playing meeting. The girls have a lot of fun making a big mess with the finger paint but Mom isn't too worried about it!! On to the second batch of bread / cinnamon rolls and another load of laundry (girl's comforters get washed today!)!! Next up is a snack for Bereket (and the girls too of course). He spies the pecans, so I let him try them and he decides he likes them but he is a little slow chewing them up and tends to hold them in his mouth, so I set him in Bella's chair which he thinks is fun so he can focus more on the food in his mouth!! He keeps wanting more!!! Does he really like them? I don't know! Time to quit with the pecans and I put Bereket down to play for a while and then work with Eden on her addition with a new twist (magnets on the refrigerator)! P.S. - Thanks so much, Krista!!!! Eden has another lying episode today and I decide that she thinks she is going to get in trouble (so she lies) but it is important for me to make clear that I know she is lying and to get her to admit the truth. Much time later and she tells me the truth. WHEW!! I talk with her in short clear English about the importance of telling the truth!! On to lunch time. First we take a walk to the mail and get some cool outside air in our lungs. By the time we are back in the house we are hungry. Fresh bread and leftover soup!! I make up Treva and Katreese's beds with clean sheets. Close to nap time but I have to finish up with Eden on her school....... and on to naps!!! YAYY!! No story books today before nap time. Somehow we ran out of time again! I am still trying to figure out where the time goes!! The day is not done yet....

Whew! I'm exhausted! Hey, wanted to let you know about a set of DVDs of an Ethiopian educational tv show called Tsehai Loves Learning. It's a puppet show for preschoolers in Amharic (English subtitles) and one of the episodes is on telling the truth. I can't help but imagine it would really hit home if you were able to provide the lesson to her in English AND in her native language. It would sure make an impression, at least. Anyway, you can google Tsehai Loves Learning for the website and order the DVDs if you want. The episodes teach values, numbers, Amharic alphabet, vocabulary, etc. I bet Bereket would like it.
On another note, I am a family advocacy nurse and spend my work days visiting families in their homes teaching the moms and sometimes dads better parenting skills, while all the while I am wishing I am home parenting MY little one! I know you cherish this time with your kids but I just wanted to add a little "way to go" with a touch of envy. Great job, mamma!
Ciao,
Jenny
Jenny,
Thanks for the encouragement!! I am very thankful I don't have to leave my kiddos to go to work - don't know how I would do it!! I didn't know that was your job!! How interesting!!! I will def. look into the dvds!!I think that is a great idea!! What is kinda sad is that Eden is losing her Amharic very quickly which is one of the reasons we brought home ET music cds for her from ET!!!
A mother's work is never done. You are doing a great job. Love to read your blog.
How you are truly amazing and how you find time for everyone and even yourself!! Keep up the great work!!
Have you ever heard of Touch Math?
I have seen it used mainly in special education classes with migrant children in order to catch them up in their math classes. It is so impressive with how successful it is with students that are very behind in their studies.
Once I saw how it works, I don't know why it is not used in ALL beginning math. It is an awesome concept to learn numbers and then addition, subtraction and so on.
