THE LAST WEEK

We made it down to the last week of school!!!  Although it seems like this year has flown, now I am ready for summer!  The last weeks of school are sometimes the hardest.....  We have been the latest to school in the morning of the whole year!  I am just tired of pushing and meeting deadlines!  This also proves to be a hard time of year for Eden knowing that changes are coming...!

Saturday was a hard day here as we were doing some moving furniture around to utilize space (a never ending task) and then we all helped get our pool set up again after a winter storm sent the pool for a nose dive and we took it down....  All these changes didn't help Eden settle.  She articulated her words well, though, on Saturday and was able to tell us that she was feeling worried because there was some angry voices and the changes in the rooms as well!  Cade and I were both proud of her when after that she was able to move on.

This week I will be compiling a chore list for the summer for morning chores.  Eden, especially, needs structure so I will be following the previous two summers schedule.  Morning chores, lunch, quiet times (naps), swimming time (play time), dinner, and bed!  I also have been mulling around some things in my mind to try to help ourselves have a successful, enjoyable summer.  One of those things is making "quiet boxes" for the younger children. This would involve fun, quiet activities that they can do on their own in their own space.  I think this could be particularly helpful when things are chaotic, possibly even due to a sudden change in plans like summer can bring.  I am also thinking beach time would be therapeutic for the kids and I.  I am still working on arrangements to see is this would be a plausible option at quick notice.

Any suggestions out there for summer time?  What are your plans? Like always, our summer is Cade's busy working season, so we don't plan much in advance to do together as a family but that doesn't mean we can't have fun and it still doesn't mean that the kids and I can't get away a little here and there...!

This is what our pool looked like for some time!
