Christmas Day

The trip to back home, to IA, is always so long and wearisome!!  Thankfully, my hubby does so well driving!!  I was tired before we left, so I wasn't much help!  We like to drive straight through because it just gets the trip over with and then the kids sleep through the nights.

Eden did so well with the drive and was such a trooper!  She was told that we are going to Iowa to see Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Shirley.  When we would enter a new state Cade always told the kids that we were in that state, so when we entered Iowa (which IS a big deal anyway) Eden started looking around and asking where Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Shirley are!  Funny!!  Eden was hesitant with my family at first (or any new person), which is always good to see!!  She would cling to Cade and I for a while and especially watch us and the other kids interact with her new relatives and then that was it!!  She really is very social, so she quickly became close to my mom and dad, my sister and Rob, and other family!!  It warmed my heart to see Eden win every one's heart over!!  Kids don't hold back, it is adults who do that!  It just melted my heart to see my mom and dad and sister loving on Eden!!!  Of course, we couldn't wait for them to meet her, but to see the response was incredible!!

It has amazed me, too, how Eden is so anxious to figure out who people are, what their names are, and how they are related!  She could probably tell us almost every one's name that she met.  Every once and a while, she would ask me, "Name?" or she would repeat their names later, after having met them, as if to grind it in her head!!  My brothers, Travis and Tristan did not make it home for the holidays, but Eden wanted to figure out who they were as well.  On our way back home we went through Montana to visit my brother, Travis, and his wife (Carla) and son (Dalton).  That was special for Eden to meet them and meet another cousin!!  They just recently moved to a larger house so they had room enough for all of us!!  It was great!

As Eden meets more of our family, it just feels like her roots are spreading into our family even deeper!  She wants to be a part of our family in every way she can!!  Kids will be kids, so the other day I overheard an conversation between Katreese and Eden.  They were talking about KVI (Eden's orphanage) and Katreese asked her if she like being in our family better than in the orphanage.  Of course, I knew that Eden doesn't know that term, orphanage, so I told Katreese, you mean KVI!  Anyway, Eden understood what she was asking, then, and she started jumping up and down and said, "Yes, yes!!"  "I love Mom, Dad, Cyrus, (and on down the line!)"

Love this picture of my mom and dad!

This is the mean mom trying to get some good family pictures!

                                                                    We are family!!

Usunns!!  Proof that you have to take a LOT of pictures to get a good one!!

I am happy that we didn't have to have presents, a tree, or anything like that to make our Christmas special!  It was most special because of our family being together!!  More than that, it happened on Sunday, which meant that we had our morning meeting and we remembered not only the birth of Jesus but also his death and we have sweet fellowship together!
