My Friday

Well, Friday turned into a very crazy day!!  I debated on posting about it, yet I think it just shows how crazy things get with this adoption paper trail!!  I was super excited when I went to get the mail and found our new approval notice (which we have been waiting for) that approves us for the ages 0-6 yr so it covers Eden after she turns 6 years old in April.  The approval came super fast, by the way.  It took time for our home study agency to get our addendum done and then it had to go to Illien in GA where they reviewed it and got the papers together to send in with it to apply for a new I-600.
Since it was Friday ( and I had nothing else to do - LOL!!) I decided to make some calls and see if it would be possible to get our documents together to be notarized and set up a FedEx account so that I could send the paperwork to Sacramento to be authenticated, and then I include a prepaid envelope addressed to a person in Washington D.C. where it gets certified and he sends it on to ET to go with our dossier.  After these two documents (our new approval form and a new POA paper) are in Ethiopia included with our dossier, than Tesdey (whom the POA paper is for) can open up our file and apply for a court date.  This court date will determine when we travel for the first time to ET!!
Anyway, now you know why I felt the push to just get it done and off my plate!!!  Well, we had papers to sign at the bank where we are working on a line of credit, so that was another reason we needed to go to town.  I spent all afternoon on the phone making calls to get everything in line so I could get this done!!  I called our notary, who has been so willing to come to town on short notice for us.  Well, I found out she was headed out of town, so I had to figure out who would notarize our documents on short notice, or if it would even work out.  I found out that we could make an appointment at the FedEx place where I had to go anyway to get our documents notarized and they would also make copies for me (since my fax is NOT making quality copies at the time - must need a new cartridge - how convenient!).  The challenge for us because of where we live is to get to town before things close on a Friday, not to mention that the kids go to school 20 miles away in the opposite direction.  Trying to make this story as short as possible, I made an appointment at 4:30 to have our notarizations done and then we had to be to the bank at 4:00!!  Well, after picking up my hubby on the way, we got to the bank shortly after 4 pm and my hubby forgot his wallet.  Thank goodness for his mom who went into town for us and she drove back to the shop with the kids in tow and brought it back.  Well, unbeknownst to me, Stacy at the bank planned to go into detail about the whole line of credit that we are opening and we did not have enough time for it!! ! UGH!  The good news is, that they would notarize our documents there for free of  charge, so I called and canceled our other notary app.  We had to have some of the bank papers notarized anyway.  Well, when I was watching the notary sign her name I noticed right away that it did NOT match the name on her stamp.  I have pretty much memorized the dossier guidelines for notarizing, so I knew right away this was going to be a problem.  I mentioned it to her (bad idea!!) and she said that is how her signature is sealed!  Well, she did not sign her whole name as appeared on her stamp.  I knew there was no reason to pursue the issue because she was set in her ways, which I understand.  I was dead in the water and I knew it!!  SO very frustrating.  I also knew that we would miss the FedEx place before they closed!!  It was just such a bummer deal.  I had tried so hard all afternoon just so I could get to town with all my "ducks in a row!"  Cade could tell I was bummed and offered to take the family out for supper!!!  Thanks for saving the day, honey!!!   So, guess what I am doing tomorrow?  Yep, going to town to try again!!!
