Part 1 Kauai

When we were on our last plane from Seattle, WA to HI I was mesmerized as I watched a lady with her cane and noticed her hat covering her bald head take her seat beside me.  This is how our trip started.  She spilled her drink and became upset and I reassured her it was fine she had no reason to worry.  We not only left six kids at home, but we UNDERSTOOD the effects of chemo and cancer.  As you can imagine, she wanted to hear our story and we wanted to hear hers!!  Sadly, this lady is losing her fight to breast cancer and she wanted to take one more trip to Hawaii.  What I found even more sad, was that she was going on this trip alone.  No husband, no friend, no relative was helping her and she clearly could have used some help because it was clear her health was very rocky!

So, our trip started on memories of Kohlie as we rehashed some of our experiences in her fight of cancer.  It was a bit strange, but we had found out Thanksgiving week from our friend, that two very special people who shared our experience with Kohlie were also going to be on the island the same time as us!  Maragaret, especially, was such a help to us and holds special memories of when she visited us when Kohlie was facing her last days and she talked to our little girl like she was much older (when she was dying about death and heaven) and our sweet Kohlie understood.

See the turtle?!  Many times I wished I wd have taken my bigger lens!
We had such a nice time with Sara and Margaret.  They both knew places to go on the island and Sara took us to the trail on Shipwreck Rock to hike along the ocean where there was hardly a person!!
