Unplanned Trip to the Doc

Some of you who are friends with me on facebook may know that my Monday afternoon entailed an unexpected trip to the doctor for Bereket.  I remember early on, after he came home that I told myself he would probably give me the most gray hairs out of all my kids.  This is mostly because #1 - He is a boy and it has been a long time since I had a little boy.  #2- Lack of coordination / muscle because of time at the orphanage, laying in his crib.  #3- He didn't understand consequences of cause and effect (because of his lack of time just playing outside, being a boy - I like to think he has learned this more since being here!)

Anyway, x-rays confirmed that he indeed had broken his ulna, despite his cheerful disposition.  (I have to say, though, we have been dealing with a lot of pouts from Bereket and I think this is mostly why!)  This momma wanted to cry, fighting fits of guilt because I am supposed to protect my children and keep them safe and yet Bereket was giggling because the cotton going on his arm (for his cast) was tickling his armpit!  I suppose his happiness (he enjoyed all the attention!!) uplifted my heavy heart, realizing he will be okay and he will heal!

I think anytime something happens to my children, I tend to struggle with paranoia because of what we faced with Kohlie.  I even asked the doctors if his bones looked normal!  They looked at me a little funny!  I was reminded again that Bereket is just such a little, delicate individual still, with much healing on the inside and outside!

Bella and Eden enjoyed watching the casting!!

Mom busy filling out paperwork - oh, boy!

Nothing like having my personal photographer, my daughter!

A tired Momma, yet somehow happy little boy!

I thought of that, too, Angela... about Kohlie and how it must be hard to not panic about such things as broken bones. He sure is a happy little fella! From the grin on his face, I'm thinking this probably won't slow him down too much. :)

Cute pics, but sorry about Bereket's cast. : ( Good thing summer is over! That's the exact break Kenna had last summer...thank goodness they heal quickly!
