Now it is on to summer. This first week of summer I told myself I would keep my schedule freed up and just ENJOY and RELAX in our first week. I expected for their to be bumps anyway, as everyone is adjusting to a change in being home. Of course, my older kids are already busy with their cousins, helping out Grandpa Mark, and being kids! Treva has her cousin, Terra, here with us and Katreese is now staying with her cousin, Julia. This always seems to change our family dynamics but I am happy to see that Eden is handling it much better than last summer!
Eden and I had a talk today about her new therapist she is going to start going to this Thursday. (My one thing on my agenda.) I hoped I could give her the information to think about and likening it to our friend who has helped in some ways has made it much easier for her, I think. I wanted to give Eden some time to think about it and give her opportunity to ask questions ahead of time without making problems and see if she would feel more in control. So far, so good! I expect for her to be anxious the day of. The thing I really like about this therapist is that she does play therapy (which is just the kids playing out their problems / worries / anxieties and less talking.) I believe this may work better for Eden. This therapist also works specifically with certain issues and in Eden's age group! I am hopeful this will help some areas especially in dealing with Eden's anxieties and helping her to deal with them in a better way.

The new therapist sounds great! And great job preparing her :) Eden is lucky to have a mom so loving and caring to seek her an outlet to work on those anxieties! Good luck! I hope it is a great match for both of you!
Thanks Lindsy!! Thought of you!!! I am very hopeful!!
I saw a book at the office the other day that may be a good match? I ended up using a few pages with a client, but I don't know if the whole book would be a match for Eden or not? You can probably find it on Amazon - or ask your current therapist. It is called: What to Do When You Worry Too Much - A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Anxiety. The book uses the metaphor of a tomato plant - and it is a cognitive-behavioral approach. It is an interactive book prompts for drawing and writing. Oh, the author is Dr. Dawn Huebner
