Homeschooling

"How is it going?"  "How are you managing?"  Those are some of the common questions I get.  So, an update on homeschooling.  A couple weeks ago, before my trip to Palm Springs, was the end of the semester!!  That was quite a week!!  I feel for these teachers, really, I do!!  It was a BIG week and I am happy to be done with that one!!

Last weekend we met again with the head teacher over our school.  It was really what I needed after my first week back after my trip and getting back into the grind.  She is so encouraging and told me she wants to put a camera in my school room to see how I get it all done because she has 2 girls in K12 and has a hard time keeping up!! (HA!!  If only she knew!!!) (She actually has older kids she takes care of as well!!)  Anyway, she reminded me of when I first came to her and how concerned I was with my kids' education.  She told me, "It's people like you who make the program work!!"

So, we are steadily plugging along!!  We have made a couple of changes.  We took off some of Eden's works because she had literature and comprehension, writing, spelling, handwriting, and Mark 12 (which covers spelling and literature and comprehension) all for Language Arts.  I had told the teacher it was too much for her but she was managing fine on some days and I was modifying quite a bit for her because comprehension and writing are very hard for her still.  So, we took off some of the language arts subjects. Katreese is also starting the new semester with a tutor who can go right on the computer and check into how she is doing (I cannot do that, unfortunately.)  This will also be someone K can call with questions and will be more available.

After our meeting with the teacher I promised the kids cold stone before we had to go to Treva's game.  That was a treat!!  We stayed overnight with friends and then in the morning I went on a short 5.5 mile race there in Redding which was fun to do!!  That afternoon I took the kids to a high school performance (it was very well done!!) of Aladdin for a reward (field trip!)  They all enjoyed it so it ended up being a very nice weekend!!

I just want to say, that if anyone knew the trouble we faced in getting this weekend in order so we could go..... you would understand how thankful I was to have the energy to run on Saturday morning and not only that but to really clock an amazing run!!!  Eden still has major anxiety about anything out of the ordinary or anything "exciting" happening and often does her best to sabotage it!!

fun treat for my students (and the teacher!)

beautiful, sunny morning and wonderful run!!!

thankful for health....
