Labor Day

It seems that since our addition has started, all we have done in any of our extra time is work, pick up, clean up... The kids had asked me some time back if we were going to do anything fun for Labor Day.  It also seems like in our current craze of this life phase, making plans in advance just does.not.happen!!  So, it was fun and fitting to make last minute plans to go to a lake on Labor Day, take some fishing poles and swimming suits, and pack a lunch!  There were two lakes that were in question specifically, but Kangaroo Lake won and Cade had never been there either, so it was a real treat.... and a real beauty!!

There is just nothing like a lake in the mountains and the serenity and beauty of it to help me relax and enjoy life!  There is a beautiful campground here and it is very well maintained.  It was definitely hit for our family and already voted to be returned to and camped at!!

As we were headed to the lake we were talking about how the lake was named, since it is called Kangaroo Lake.  Cade didn't know but wondered if it was because there are a lot of kangaroo rats in the area!  eeeek!  So, I had to look them up....

and me who absolutely despises rat and mice creatures... was surprised that they are kinda cute!

beautiful Kangaroo Lake

I was glad it was warms enough outside for the kids to brave the cool water!

Katreese was the first to get all the way in the cool lake!

so many things to do, go hiking, ..

go fishing.....

chill-ax... wait.... me?  Amazing!

.....play with sticks and pretend they are guns, or a fishing pole

more wimming (as Bear calls it)

Daddy gently dropping him in the deep water here

One of my favorite pictures of the day!!  Love to see these 2 having fun together!!

She definitely wins the best pose for the day!

Ryder Dog was pretty happy to come along on the trip with the family!
He doesn't like swimming so much, though!
He stayed right beside me after Cade gave him a push in!

We saw so many chipmunks around cleaning up people's food they left behind
 (no, it wasn't ours!!!)

Cyrus and Treva swimming across the lake!

A man and his dog......

Guess my kids took off with the camera again... proof I was relaxing.... and just so you know, that rock was mighty comfy!!:)

NO way to get enough of this beauty!

Cade helping Cyrus with the fishing bait (but still no fish)

Cyrus fishing in true style....

Treva's turn with the fshing pole

This was when I started getting bored.... fishing but no fishy!!

Cyrus tired of fishing too......

All in all, it was a great family day!  Best one we have had in a long while.... well needed....after our first week of homeschooling..... well worth the trip.... well worth getting behind at home!
