We are packing up to head back to Iowa for the holidays. It has been a stressful week here as many of you can imagine. Eden started her "acting out" on Saturday when I first pulled out the little one's suitcases to try to get a jump start on packing. I was expecting this so we were able to talk about her feelings and why she was feeling anxious. I was hoping it would help her this week but I just don't even know if she is capable yet of using the tools we have tried to put in place for her such as communication, giving us a hug on her own when she is feeling worried, etc.
It is stressful for the whole family! I was talking with Cade last night about how comparable it is to the week before Thanksgiving!! At this point, we have to limit her choices and try to keep her close... I really don't feel like writing anymore about it. I am really tired and trying to get everything packed up today. The younger kids have their Christmas program tonight, so that is also playing into the anxiety for Eden. I will be happy once we are on the road.
Cade and I are already preparing to keep Eden close as we did for Thanksgiving. This worked well for her and right now we feel that is probably what will be best for her.
Happy holidays to each and we hope you have an enjoyable vacation with loved ones!

Yeah, that whole "keeping close" idea works well for us, too...although it requires a lot of extra energy/redirection.
